John Lees' Barclay James Harvest - Toronto

John Lees' Barclay James Harvest-
Wednesday 6th May 2009

Toronto Opera House, 735 East Queen St, Toronto

The first Canadian show ever by the legendary Classic UK Progressive Rock band,  featuring founder Barclay James Harvest members John Lees and Mellotron maestro Woolly Wolstenholme with band consisting of Craig Fletcher, Jez Smith and Kevin Whitehead.

Barclay James Harvest formed in 1967 in North West England and signed to EMI's Parlophone label the following year. The EMI "progressive" imprint Harvest was allegedly named after the band when established in 1969. BJH joined such acts as Pink Floyd, Kevin Ayers, Deep Purple and The Edgar Broughton Band, recording four albums for the imprint. During this period the band pioneered Symphonic Rock, working with a 40-piece orchestra on such classics as "Mockingbird", "Galadriel", "The Poet", "After the Day" and "Medicine Man". Signing to Polydor in 1974 (and MCA Records in the US and Canada) BJH achieved increased success, particularly in Germany where the album "Gone to Earth" went Platinum. Woolly Wolstenholme departed in 1979 for a solo career and BJH continued until 1997. John Lees teamed up with Woolly Wolstenholme once more to record the albums "Nexus" and "Revival" for Eagle Records and in 2006 the successful UK tour was captured on the DVD and CD "Legacy" to great acclaim.

The concert in Toronto is the band's only Canadian concert and promises to be a special event with a set list drawn from classic BJH albums such as "Once Again", "Other Short Stories", "Everyone is Everybody Else", "Time Honoured Ghosts", "Octoberon", "Gone to Earth" & "XII".
