The Sugar Kings Trio

In the tradition of the music of pre-revolution Havana, "The Sugar Kings" trio present son Cubano, bolero, Guarachando and cha cha cha with vocal harmonies, earthy rhythms and a warm Cuban Spirit.
Band leader, Flavio Correa, is a Cuban percussionist and singer based in London. He grew up in Centro Havana surrounded by Cuban musical giants like Chucho Valdez. He specialises in latin percussion and afro-Cuban drumming, Cuban rumba and afro-cuban folkloric music.
After coming to the UK Flavio founded his band ‘The Sugar Kings’, named after the famous Havana Baseball team of the pre-revolution days when Havana was brimming with notorious gangsters and Hollywood stars.
The band has performed in such venues as The National Theatre and The Royal Albert Hall Jazz series. With festival credits including Regents Park and City of London.
Flavio has composed music for and appeared in the BBC production of ‘The Hour’ starring Dominic West and Ben Wishaw, and ITV’s ‘Auf Weidersehen, Pet’.
He Currently plays with Omar Puente
Elpidio Caicedo is one of the top Salsa bass players in the UK and performs with such greats as Omar Puente and Roberto Pla. Born in Buena Ventura near Kali (the Colombian capital of salsa), Elpidio is the musical director of choice for visting Colombian musical stars.
Daniel Carnago, is a classically trained Tres player from Santiago de Cuba, the Island’s cultural capital of the east. He was a longstanding member of Cuba’s formidable ‘Septeto Contemporario’ before recently coming to the UK.
